Member of the month

Every month we ask members of Manchester Korfball Club to nominate a fellow member who they feel has made a valuable contribution to the club. That can be either on the court (e.g. playing really well, refereeing games, being an inspiring captain) or off the court (organising a team or event or generally mucking in to ensure the smooth running of the club).

We'll ask for your nominations every month so please email manchesterkc@hotmail.com and tell us who you think should win and why and the Executive Committee will decide on a winner from the nominations put foward.

January 2012

January’s Member of the Month goes to John Schofield. Not only does John hold a position on the MKC committee and the NWKA committee but in the absence of a Renegades Team Manager, John has stepped in and taken on this job as well. He organises the team, getting our newest players involved and playing alongside them to help them learn the game. Somehow he also finds time to fulfil several of our refereeing commitments too!

December 2011

Out of the nominations for November we felt that there was one group of people who derseved the member(s) of the month award for December. This goes to the Bengals who have consistently supported the club by filling in gaps in Renegades and playing games back to back most weekends.

Well done to all our winners, very well deserved. :)

November 2011 Craig Wilkinson & Sue Watmough

Craig Wilkinson - for his help making sure Renegades could field a team each week by organising availability on top of his role as Manchester 2 team manager.

Sue Watmough - for stepping up to play in Man 1 to cover injury problems. This meant travelling to away games with Manchester 1, playing brilliantly and coming back to do it all over again for Manchester 2 as well (plus fitting this around her very busy sporting calendar).

October 2011 Lisa McEvoy

Lisa has only been with us a few months and in that time she's thrown herself into korfball, volunteering for two committee positions at the AGM. Not thinking she had enough on her plate, we asked her to be Team Manager for Manchester Bengals this season and she's not only doing a great job there but she's also been helping to make sure the Renegades can field a team every week too.
