Report on the Manchester Korfball Tourno

No sliding around in a wet and boggy field this year as fine conditions allowed for a fine tournament. The sun shone down on the fields of Ashton on Mersey Rugby Club and sun cream was the order of the day instead of cagoules, much to the relief of the organisers and our camping guests!
Twelve visiting teams from around the country descended on us this year but it was our friends from the White Rose of Yorkshire, Leeds City, who took the title with a win against the Red Roses, Manchester Warriors.
The two MKC teams did us proud with some great performances. The “English Wildcats” (who were tamed before the start when captain Cat English pulled out due to injury) finished 6th, ahead of Stuart Anderson’s “Stu and Dumplings” who rolled in with 10th place.
We shouldn’t leave out the best performance of the day, which goes to Eloise and her largely successful attempt at a clean sweep on the raffle!
Thanks go to the tournament committee of Kris, Cathy, Anna and Ant who spent many hours over many months organising the event. The tournament day was made complete though by our Master of Ceremonies (and party games), Edd, who put on a great show on the microphone all day and night. It’s time to start planning next year’s event now!
As a little treat, here's a short video capturing a Manchester goal.
