Report on the Castle Tourno

The Vengabus and Donna the Micra took the short trip down the M6 to Eloise’s old stomping ground, for the Castle tourno in June. Following the advice of Fred the Weatherman, the passengers were armed with pack-a-macs and welly boots aplenty; little did they know that blazing sunshine lay in wait!
So as the saying goes, the sun shines on the righteous and Edd’s burnt forehead was evidence of how much the sun did indeed shine – ha ha ha!
The two MKC teams were split down the middle, a mixture of youth and experience, with nothing to choose between them. It was, however, Bibloss Bandits who fared better on the day, finishing a whopping 3rd, by beating Warriors with a last second goal in the 3rd/4th play off; a month on and Anna is still telling the tale of her awesome interception and Kris’ cool finish – bless! Ha ha ha! Caitlin and the L Plates finished a respectable 8th in what was a top day of Korf.
Special mention goes to Cathy for heading up MKC’s clean sweep of the raffle; the boooooos from the cheap seats can still be heard, even now – ha ha ha!
MKC’s very own DJ Dork, who showcased an eclectic mix of requests and carefully prepared floor fillers, brought the event to a crowd-pleasing climax. Dance routines courtesy of Caitlin, Laura, Bex and Lucy, ballroom dancing by Jeni and Edd and limbo flashes by AK Flanders were just the cherries on top of a fun-filled bash! Arguably the highlight of the night, however, was a seven-minute impromptu rendition of American Pie by Anthony Finn-McLean; by that point Eloise was seen biking home, making S shapes in the road and the remaining revellers were up to their eyeballs in ‘whiskey and rye’ ha ha ha!
