Report on the SDO Tournament in Holland

It took a good few days before everyone’s heads and bellies stopped hurting, after a weekend of partying, korfing and good times at the SDO tournament in Holland. Man those guys know how to put on a good show! By far the best overseas tourno we’ve been to :)
The weekend started with a ‘defending clinic’ by a top Dutch international, where we learnt about getting in the bibble (sp!?) LOL! Think you had to be there! After finishing that at 10pm, we all had the best intentions of just having a ‘couple of drinks to help us sleep’….. ten little beers, a horse Kroket, a master class in Dutch from Ninka and several hours later, the party was still going. Suffice to say, the Korf wasn’t the best the next day – hahaha!
The sun shone and the beers continued to flow throughout the day, with some British, German and Dutch Korf thrown in to boot. The day ended in an SDO1 Vs SDO2 final, something that hosts weren’t too pleased about but the crowd didn’t complain; the best team won! After a quick shower, some drinking games, lots of chanting (bor-ring...bor-ring...) (win-ner...win-ner....) and a BBQ feast (a treat consisting of lamb, tiger prawns, pork and salmon – shame on us Brits!) the partying, once again, got under way. A couple of bands (and DJ Echtbert!) ripped the crowd, and mosh pit, in to a frenzy – never before have we seen a mosh pit (or ‘mash pit’, as the Dutch like to call it) go mental to the birdy song and Angels – again, you had to be there to believe it! What a hoot! Eloise and Kris, who ended up in the thick of it, looked to be concussed and severely traumatised but in all fairness, they got away lightly, and bizarrely, seemed to be having an absolute blast - hahaha!!
After three days of laughing our a$$e$ off and a quick round of clog golf to top the weekend off, we could only look back on the trip with laughter and admiration for a club that took such pride in putting on a top tournament from start to finish and who made their guests feel like their own – great job, SDO, you guys kicked a$$!
Big up to Egbert, Edo, Alwin, Harman and Rogier and everyone else for organising everything and looking after us all so well
We’ll be back!
Finally, for those who haven't yet seen it, here's a video from the tournament. Enjoy!
