There were teething troubles at the start of the season for Manchester 2 but captured team spirit after a few games. The team finished second in the league with the same number of points as the winning team and were disappointed not to win the league. The squad would benefit from more consistency (problems with girls not being able to make the matches due to work commitments) and from training sessions together as a team.

Kris J started our warm up where we found out that we had already won the match by default! Due to play Warriors 3rd team, they could only field 1st and 2nd team players so we were 10-0 up before even stepping on court!
Nevertheless, Man2’s professionalism and experience kicked in early and throughout the entire game, defence on both halves of the court was outstanding. In attack, the ball moved well around the court and at half time the scoreline was still tight. Not quite sure what happened in the middle as alas in the end, Warriors long shots won the match 14-2.

Man 2 began the 08/09 Korfball season as a strong and formidable team. If only we could have all made it to training for one week then we could have practised together! We all thought Paul Dewey’s Korfball career would be over when he became a new father at Christmas but I'm pleased to report that the veteran plays on.
Over the season, Man 2 has lost some good players but gained some even better players (sorry Steve, well done Simon!), played some good games (winning 22-1) and some bad games (losing against Lancaster) and have been subject to injuries in the final throws of the season. I would like to extend my personal thanks to all who have played for us at the last minute and helped us get to where we are in the table. You are stars!
