Sheffield Trotters 8 - 12 Manchester

With its squad travelling from the length and breadth of the North, Man 1's coach for the day, Cathy, was envisaging one of the first team's famous 'arrive on court with 30 seconds to spare and no time for a warm up' debacles! Oh how wrong she was, with the lady herself arriving last out of all but still with 15 minutes to spare before warm up time; things were looking up!

Man 1 was missing Simon and Cathy (injury) from its regular line-up, with Lou and John stepping up to maintain a strong starting eight. And strong it was! Patient build up, faultless defending and nice finishing saw the team go ahead within the first 30 seconds. All members of the team continued to find the basket, taking the half time score to 8-2 in Man 1's favour.

Trotters made an impactful substitution at the break and came out with a renewed spirit and fight. A flurry of goals from the home side and lapses in concentration from Man 1 put the firsts under pressure. The team soon settled back in to a controlled rhythm, though, and countered with a couple of timely goals, killing off the game and finishing the game how it started.

A spirited performance and well earned victory!
