Manchester 1 finished 5th in their league after a tough season. The team suffered from a lack of consistency with different players turning out each week. The squad announced at the beginning of the season only played together a couple of times as unit. Manchester 1 urged the selection committee for 2010 to consider players’ commitment to both home and away games and training to be considered when selecting the squad for the next season. A lack of playing together showed when playing against better, more organised teams who play the same players week in week out.

With its squad travelling from the length and breadth of the North, Man 1's coach for the day, Cathy, was envisaging one of the first team's famous 'arrive on court with 30 seconds to spare and no time for a warm up' debacles! Oh how wrong she was, with the lady herself arriving last out of all but still with 15 minutes to spare before warm up time; things were looking up!

The 2008-2009 season saw the CEKL split into two divisions of seven, with Manchester 1 playing in CEKL Division 1. We finished a respectable 5th, in what was a tough season. There were notable wins away to Nottingham (despite the late arrivial of 3 of our players!) and home to Castle. The team suffered from a lack of consistency with 19 different players turning out over the course of the season, however thanks go to the people who helped out, and due to the structure of play being coached at training these people didn’t look out of place when playing for Manchester 1. There was a great spirit within the team and we all know what we need to do next season - score more goals!
