Bengals vs. Renegades Match Report

Last Updated on Friday, 26 February 2010 20:34

The last encounter with Renegades served up much frustration for Bengals with injury reducing their team to 7 within the early stages of play.  This time Bengals were at full strength and determined to put in a strong performance.  Filling in for the injured Helen S. and Karl were Steve and wannabe Bengal Leanne.  The team mascot (a not so fierce stuffed tiger toy) watched on from the sidelines as the game began. Within 5 minutes Bengals claimed the first goal of the game and looked in control.  With plenty of chances put up in the air the goals started to come.  Renegades had certainly gained some experience since the last encounter and danger man Dave's tenacious approach led to a long range Renegades goal, but the Bengals own combined experience was too much to them.  At half-time the score was 5:1 to the Bengals.

Bengals vs. Man Uni 2 Match Report

With injuries still effecting the Bengals squad, a special Valentine's Day call went out to all the ladies out there. With seven ladies asked out on a korf-date, five replied with a flat no, and two dealt out the silent treatment.  Anna Flanders was lucky lady number eight who stepped into the Bengals ranks along side guest Renegade Michael for a revenge game against Man Uni 2.  Last time Bengals and Uni 2 met in the league, Man Uni 2 sneaked a 6:7 win after trailing for most of the game.  But this time Bengals were determined to come away with a better result.  Not only was it Valentine's Day, but it was also Chinese New Year and the beginning of the Year of the Tiger.  Surely the omens were there for a good Bengals result?

Bengals vs. Wasps Match Report

An injury crisis hit both Man City 2 and Bengals and this meant double-trouble.  Three players from Bengals doubling up to play an exhausting match against Man Uni 2 before the Bengals own fixture against Man Uni Wasps.  Man 2 returned the favour with Jenny Whitehead and John Schofield stepped into Bengals along with the MKC's dynamos Anna Flanders and Lucy McConnell playing half a game each.  Thanks Jenny, John, Lucy and Anna!  Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for Bengals Karl, Helen S. and Diana.

The Rumble in the Jungle - part 2.  Lions vs. Tigers... Roaarr!!

Time for Bengals to assert themselves in the league once more and bounce back from the previous week's defeat. With top support from Helen Skedgel on the sidelines (recovering from injury), Bengals had everything in place to return to winning form... except for being a girl down before the match started.  Damn it!  Luckily, a Lancaster Liger by the name of Tara Stott stepped up to the mark as a guest Bengal tiger.  But hey, was she more Lion or Tiger?  Well, 60 minutes of korf would help decide.  Lions were also a player down due to late illness of one of their players, but were helped out by a passing Warrior.

Manchester 2 vs. Bengals Match Report

With Manchester City 2 losing two games on the trot to Lancaster, Bengals were hoping for a collapse of team morale in their opponents. Also, Bengals swept aside Lancaster earlier in the season and so were given hope that this match would be a close one.  As games go this one was always going to be a biggy, a Battle Royale and our toughest, biggest game yet. Win this one and Bengals would go second in the league with a game in hand over the top team Lancaster!  Win the game in hand and Bengals would storm to the top of the table!

Warriors vs. Bengals Match Report

The Warrior versus the Tiger – man versus beast...  A battle which has been waged for what feels like centuries with the outcome always the same – the evil Warrior empire triumphing over the mighty Bengal Tiger.  The odds seemed stacked against the Bengals before this match was even played with Anderson, Praga and Lowe drafted into Manchester 2 to plug shortages in their trip to Lancaster. This inevitably just transferred the shortages to Bengals who drafted in a few faces not seen for a long, long while.

Becky Lowe for her commitment to NWKL fixtures! As well as playing for her team Bengals she has helped Man 2 and Renegades field full teams, even turning out 3 times one Sunday!  Well done Becky!

Warriors vs. Man 2 Match Report

Kris J started our warm up where we found out that we had already won the match by default! Due to play Warriors 3rd team, they could only field 1st and 2nd team players so we were 10-0 up before even stepping on court!

Nevertheless, Man2’s professionalism and experience kicked in early and throughout the entire game, defence on both halves of the court was outstanding. In attack, the ball moved well around the court and at half time the scoreline was still tight. Not quite sure what happened in the middle as alas in the end, Warriors long shots won the match 14-2.

Renegades vs. Wasps Match Report

Last Sunday saw the Manchester Renegades go head to head with the Man Uni Wasps at Sale Leisure Centre.

After an intense start, the Renegades opened up the scoring in the first half with an early goal from our newest member Yvonne! With Regenades possession dominating the first half, the Uni Wasps struggled to get a foot hold but were by no means out for the count, as the second half saw a change in their fortunes for the Wasps.

Bengals vs. Lancaster Match report

Lancaster were on an unbroken winning run in the season until they met Warriors last week. In previous seasons the Bengals vs. Lancaster fixture had seen very close results. Our team were warned to expect nothing less than a tough game. Things got off to a slightly unfortunate start for Bengals with Helen P., who after being distracted by a Lancastrian jumping over the half-way line to intercept a pass, taking the ball right between the eyes – THWACK! Our roving MKC reporter interviewed Helen after the match and she is quoted as saying that “it was bloody painful!”. But Helen P. wiped the blood away and just got on with the game. Nice one Helen!
